33% of the year…..
That’s how long it’s been since my last post here! Shocking, I know, but kapow! - I’m back. And you know you missed the hell out of me.
I am proposing myself a project for the coming year; for the next 12 months (starting from today), each time I go to a Cineworld cinema and see a film using my Unlimited card, I aim to scan the ticket, and post it up here with a proper review. Seeing as I go to watch almost every film that gets released and usually on the day of release, I guess it’s my hope that the reviews will help others decide if it’s worth them paying out to see the film.
Who knows, I might even try submitting some reviews to other websites and see if they get published. My mate did that for a gaming website and ended up getting free instant entry as a journalist to this year’s London Expo while I had to spend 3+ hours queuing! I’d like a free pass too please……
Something more topical now - somehow we find ourselves on the doorstep of Christmas once again (I’m sure the years are shorter than they used to be, you know) and so of course the mania of the holiday season begins. This year I have been suprisingly organised when it comes to gift shopping - I usually do it all about 3 days beforehand!
And for the first time in over a decade (in fact, for only the 2nd time in 26 years) I get to have a *proper* Christmas day, seeing lots of my family and friends instead of having to trundle down to London to sit in my Grandparent’s freezing front room, only heated by a 3-bar gas fire with nothing to do but watch repeats of “The Two Ronnies” on the TV and the old folks sleeping in their chairs. Huzzah! So Wii games, board games, charades and general drunken jollies are expected to be had by all. Magical.
Speaking of Magic, I have been lucky enough to find a girlfriend who also loves to play the card game Magic The Gathering! Freakin’ Epic Win, I tell ya, especially as my only local gaming club shut down. So I have assembled myself some rather nice (and nasty!) new decks, including one “Rise of the Eldrazi” (which the gf hates because of the sheer power of it) and a rather tasty artifact deck with protection from all colours too. I can see buying the booster packs becoming an addiction though, gotta watch that!
So, my next post should be by the end of this weekend, as I will *obviously* be seeing the new TRON film; though I am more excited about the Daft Punk soundtrack then the story of the film I think!
